It can sometimes be difficult to determine what jurisdiction a property is located in. Below is a view of the area shown on KC Earth—an online mapping program that is available to the public from the Kootenai County website. A pink overlay is for properties located in the City of Hayden and the green-blue overlay covers properties in the City of Hayden Lake. You can enable this overlay on KC Earth by clicking in the upper left hand corner on the “Map Layers” box and then clicking the box next to the “City Limits” layer.
The parcel numbers themselves provide information on the jurisdiction the property is located in. Click on the green circle with an “I” on the tool bar and then on the property in question or use the search box to find the property. This will open a white box with property information. Parcel numbers beginning with an “H”, indicate a City of Hayden property. Parcel numbers beginning with a “D” are in Dalton Gardens, a “C” is for Coeur d’Alene, and a “P” is within Post Falls etc. Properties in the County begin with an “0” and in Hayden Lake begin with a “V”.
