HAYDEN'S 15TH ANNUAL ARBOR DAY CELEBRATION A BIG SUCCESS!

The City of Hayden celebrated Arbor Day in a big way! More than 450 students from Atlas Elementary School, Hayden Meadows Elementary School, North Idaho Christian School, and Christian Center School, as well as various home-schooled students along with parents and teachers participated in the event. They visited 24 centers and learned about trees, wind, soil, water, landscape, entomology, utilities, light, energy conservation, the food chain and fires.

At noon Mayor Steve Griffitts read the Arbor Day Proclamation to hundreds of students, and the City of Hayden was presented with a 2017 Tree City USA award from Stephen Drinkard, Idaho Community Forestry Program. Following this presentation, Mayor Griffitts and City Administrator Brett Boyer, along with Lisa Troxel, Hayden Parks, Recreation & Community Forestry Chair and Smokey Bear awarded prizes for the 2017 Arbor Day Sticker Contest. The Grand-Prize winner was Paige Wilton-Hayden Meadows Elementary School, 1st-Place was Alli Whiteman, North Idaho Christian School, 2nd-Place was Ellie Mroczko, Hayden Meadows Elementary School, 3rd-Place was Aliza Buffin, North Idaho Christian School, and Honorable Mention was Megan Cox, Hayden Meadows Elementary School.
